Case Study
IMPLANT IN AESTHETIC ZONE
The patient visited the OPD with a fractured tooth in the upper anterior region. An atraumatic extraction was done followed by immediate implant placement in the extraction socket. The defect was further filled with bone grafts and covered with a collagen membrane (Guided Bone Regeneration). The surgical site was reopened after 3 months, post osseo-integration. A gingival former was placed for 2 weeks, after which the crown was fixed onto the implant.

Post-OP

POST OP XRAY
Outcome:
The patient achieved a radiant smile without altering any adjacent teeth, thanks to a meticulously done Implant surgery and a well crafted emergence profile. This not only enhanced her overall aesthetics but also significantly boosted her confidence.
Patient Testimonial:
“I am incredibly grateful to Dr. Anubhav Das Adhikari for restoring my smile with precision and care. After an accident broke my front tooth, he performed an atraumatic extraction, placed an immediate implant with a bone graft and collagen membrane, and, three months later, completed the restoration with a prosthetic tooth. His expertise and dedication gave me back my confidence, and I highly recommend him.“
RHINOPLASTY
A road traffic accident case. The patient, an 18-year-old boy, presented at the OPD with a lacerated ala of the nose. Nasal reconstruction with 6-0 Prolene sutures was done under general anaesthesia. Two weeks post-op shows almost complete healing with minimal scarring.

Pre-OP

DURING SURGERY

2 Weeks Post Op
Outcome:
The 18-year-old boy, deeply traumatized by facial disfigurement following a road traffic accident, received a new lease on life. The surgery was meticulously performed to ensure minimal scarring, with the scar strategically concealed within the nasal skin crease. This allowed him to face the world with renewed confidence and enthusiasm.
Patient Testimonial:
“We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Anubhav Das Adhikari, an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, for his exceptional care and dedication during our son Ansh Chakraborty’s nose surgery. His expert treatment, kindness, and unwavering support eased our fears, making him a true hero for our family.”
TONGUE CANCER SURGERY WITH MICROVASCULAR RECONSTRUCTION
The patient presented at our OPD with a non-healing ulcer on the left lateral border of the tongue. An incisional biopsy was done, and along with an MRI, it was confirmed to be a tongue carcinoma. The lesion was excised with a 1 cm margin from all aspects. Level I-IV neck dissection was performed. The defect was reconstructed with a radial forearm free flap under a microscope (microvascular surgery) during the same procedure.

Bridging the Gap: Bringing Oral Health Care to Those Who Need It Most
In rural Bengal, nearly 80% of adults live with dental diseases that could be easily prevented or treated. But for many, access to care remains out of reach. As a Maxillofacial Trauma & Onco surgeon, I’ve seen firsthand how untreated oral health issues can devastate lives—causing chronic pain, job loss, and a ripple effect on families.
At the Gocharan Krishna Memorial Charitable Dental Clinic, I aim to provide free screenings, essential treatments, and education to those who need it most. Almost every week, I’m there, offering care to ensure no one suffers in silence, because I believe good oral health isn’t a luxury—it’s a right. And I’m committed to making it a reality for all as much as possible.

- Frequently Asked Questions
Learn All You Need to Know
1. WHAT CONDITIONS DOES A MAXILLOFACIAL SURGEON TREAT?
A Maxillofacial Surgeon specializes in treating conditions of the face, jaws, mouth, and neck, combining expertise in medicine and dentistry to restore both function and aesthetics. Their work includes early detection and surgical management of oral cancer, repairing facial fractures and trauma, treating jaw and bite disorders like TMJ problems and misalignment, and performing microvascular reconstructive surgery for facial defects after cancer or injury. They also handle wisdom teeth removal, dental implants, and correct congenital deformities such as cleft lip and palate.
2. WHEN SHOULD I SEE AN MAXILLOFACIAL SURGEON?
You should see a Maxillofacial Surgeon if you experience oral cancer signs like non-healing ulcers or red/white patches, facial trauma such as broken jaws or cheekbones, or jaw and bite issues causing pain or misalignment. We also treat wisdom teeth problems, facial deformities like cleft lip and palate, and handle reconstructive needs after injury, cancer, or infections.
Early consultation leads to better outcomes and faster recovery.
3. WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF A BIOPSY?
A biopsy is a procedure to diagnose diseases by removing a small tissue sample from the affected area for examination under a microscope. It helps detect oral cancer, infections, and other abnormalities, ensuring early treatment and better outcomes.
4. IS ORAL CANCER CURABLE?
Yes, oral cancer is curable if detected early! Timely diagnosis and treatment—through surgery, radiation, or chemotherapy—significantly improve survival rates. Regular screenings and lifestyle changes can help prevent it.
Early detection saves lives!!
5. ARE DENTAL IMPLANTS PAINFUL?
Dental implants are not painful as they are placed under local anesthesia. Mild discomfort after surgery is normal but manageable with medications. Most patients find it easier than a wisdom tooth extraction!
6. DO I NEED TO GET ALL 4 WISDOM TEETH EXTRACTED?
Wisdom teeth should be removed if they are impacted, causing pain, infection, crowding, or damage to nearby teeth. It is advisable to extract the opposite arch counterpart at the same sitting to avoid unnecessary extra post op symptoms.
A consultation with a Maxillofacial Surgeon helps determine what’s best for you.
